At Sevenhires, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our job platform services in Uganda, in accordance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 of Uganda and other applicable laws.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information: Name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account
• Profile information: Resume/CV, work experience, education, skills, and profile photo
• Identity information: National Identification Number (NIN) or other ID, where required for verification
• Application data: Information submitted when applying for jobs, including cover letters and responses to employer questions
• Payment information: Mobile Money and other transaction details when employers pay for job postings or subscriptions (processed by our licensed payment providers — we do not store full payment credentials)
• Communications: Messages between job seekers and employers through our platform

We automatically collect certain information when you use our services:

• Usage information: Pages viewed, searches performed, jobs applied to, and features used
• Device information: Device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address
• Location information: General location based on your IP address

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our job platform services
• Connect job seekers with relevant employment opportunities
• Enable employers to find and evaluate candidates
• Send you job alerts, application updates, and service notifications
• Personalize your experience and provide job recommendations
• Analyze usage patterns to improve our platform
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activities
• Comply with legal obligations

Information sharing

We share your information in the following circumstances:

• With employers: When you apply for jobs, employers can view your profile, resume, and application materials
• With job seekers: Employers' company information and job postings are visible to job seekers
• Service providers: We work with third parties who help us operate our platform, such as hosting and analytics providers
• Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Sevenhires and our users

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

Your rights under Ugandan law

Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and as reflected in your account settings, you have the right to:

• Access: Access and download your personal information from your account settings
• Correct: Update or correct inaccurate profile information at any time
• Delete: Request deletion of your account and personal information
• Object / restrict: Object to certain processing of your data
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in each email
• Profile visibility: Control who can see your profile and resume
• Complain: Lodge a complaint with Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office if you believe your rights have been violated

Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption of sensitive data, secure server infrastructure, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes or enforcing our agreements.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand how you use our platform, and improve our services. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our services.

Children's privacy

Sevenhires is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

International users

Sevenhires primarily operates in Uganda. If you access our services from outside Uganda, your information may be transferred to and processed in Uganda. By using our services, you consent to this transfer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on our platform. Your continued use of Sevenhires after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
